Goal

I Grow Chicago is an non-profit organization based in West Englewood on the corner of 64th and Honore. Our holistic model follows the philosophy of healing justice that sees justice as a world where love lives in public. We work to change communities through people and people through community. Our guiding principle is above the front door of Peace House, "If in doubt, love," and we move forward in all we do with this in mind.

We started six years ago with our Peace House, offering yoga classes and after school programming. Now we have expanded to a Peace Campus, comprised of our Wellness House, community Peace Garden, and Healing Justice Court. A residential home on our block is under construction and our Nature Playground is progress. All of our lots and homes are built by and for our community members. Our next home to be reconstructed is our Recreation House, offering a space for people to relax, enjoy themselves, and create together! With your donation, we can continue to run our many programs, like offering pantry goods and care packages, support in ID's, summer camp, after school, and more, and continue to expand our Peace Campus.

About I Grow Chicago
I Grow Chicago

The mission of I Grow Chicago is to grow Englewood from surviving to thriving through community connection, skill building, and opportunity.

Once abandoned and up for demolition, I Grow Chicago's Peace House now serves as a community center with events, after-school tutoring, summer camp, community yoga classes, Peace Garden, and a food and donation pantry. Nearly 15 different programs assist every generation of West Englewood with every aspect of their lives, from learning to take a deep breath before reacting to learning how to use computers. Since the Peace House opened, what was previously one of the most dangerous blocks in West Englewood has become a symbol of hope and transformation.
